Applied online and was asked to come into the office almost immediately. The person I interviewed with was nice, but didn't ask a lot of in-depth questions, or explained the role very well; I felt I was the one doing the majority of the inquiring. I followed up with a thank you email later that same day, and stated I was eager to hear about any next steps, because I was genuinely interested in the role. I never received a response. While I fully understand that many managers don't reply to thank you emails, since there was no HR intermediary in this instance, even a generic, automated, "thank you for your time but we've decided to go in another direction" email would have been sufficient and appreciated. In all my past experiences, when a person takes time of out their day to come into an office and interview, there's a basic level of professional courtesy that's extended to them. Perhaps not the biggest deal given that it was only one interview, but since it appears to be a pattern for this company, seems like a bit of a red flag to me.
