      Waitress Interview

      29 Oct 2014
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at RE Resource Group (London, England) in Aug 2013

      Interview

Turned up to the venue in Central London. Went through the door and was just asked to wait on the couches. The same room contained the booking team who were busy booking clients/staff. Sat there for a good few minutes with no explanation offered of the interview process. More and more people trickled in. All waiting awkwardly. Finally a man comes over and takes us into a small room with chairs and a table. Gives us a leaflet and basically reads off the leaflet our responsibilities and what is expected of us. No testing occurs, no observation of who or even how to clear plates, box tables, pour wine or anything. So they can literally recruit anyone who has no experience and send them to jobs which they have no clue how to do (thankfully I was already experienced). Seems fine, but when you get to a job and don't know what you're doing, then get shouted at by the managers and ridiculed by the guests, you'd wish you had that initial training (which they state they supply, but don't). Then you have a one-on-one interview, where they ask you about your experience, and still put you on the minimum wage regardless (even though online they state they'll pay you in accordance to your experience). Then if they're busy on the day, they'll send you to your first job straight away. They'll pretty much hire anyone, and the huge amount of interviews per day reveals they have a very high staff turnover. No surprise as they're a rubbish agency.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How many years have you worked? Response: 3 years in fine-dining environments. Result: minimum wage.
