      Account Manager Mid-Market Interview

      4 Nov 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Ramp (New York, NY) in Oct 2024

      Interview

A very poor and impersonal experience. I did not have any direct communication with the hiring team, even with a referral from a current employee. Typically, for a client facing role, a member of the hiring team conducts a quick phone call to discuss experience, skills, achievements, hypothetical situations, and confirmation that the applicant is a good culture fit. I received an automated email via the recruiting team to record myself through a screening software they use. When you begin the interview, you activate your camera and microphone. You are then asked three separate questions. For each question, you have 30 seconds to around a minute to plan, then one minute to record your response. You are allowed one retake. With this interview process in place, it is nearly impossible to showcase any of your skills or achievements in a detailed manner. With no two way communication, the hiring team barely has any context on your experience. In addition to this, I did meet all the qualifications and more for the position, which does raise some red flags. While this process may save the organization time, many intelligent and capable applicants are likely slipping through the cracks. This is the most negative hiring process I have encountered so far in my career, and I hope that prerecorded screenings do not become the new norm in tech.

Account Manager - Mid Market Interview

      26 Jun 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Ramp (New York, NY) in Jun 2025

      Interview

The typical application process is a little more detailed with questions about your current quota, role and what you bring to the table as a team member at your current company. Then, it asks what skills you have that would be beneficial to the role. After this process, I got selected to answer a few more questions via an "interview request." This portion of the interview was answering questions via video recording, not speaking with a team member about the role or company. During the process, they have you watch a video explaining that the rationale doing this is to see how you communicate. You have 2 mins to answer each question, which are pretty much the same as the written part of the application process. This really turned me off from the company/experience as a whole because, in my opinion, communicating (especially for a more sales based role) would be picking up the phone for a 10 minute chat about the role and experience.

      Question 1

What are your current sales quotas like? Why do you want to work at Ramp? What skills do you currently utilize that would be transferrable into this role?
