      Sales Manager Interview

      5 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Lincoln, NE
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at RentVision (Lincoln, NE) in Apr 2026

      Interview

I was asked to apply for the role by a recruiter. The first interview was with the recruiter and that went well. It was brief with just some surface level questions to ensure I was a good fit for the role. Then I was provided a large information sheet detailing the role, expectations, and how the interview process would be conducted. I then met with RentVision's Head of HR for a brief phone interview. The conversation was great and the questions were good. Things seems great at this point. The role was exactly what I was looking for and I was confident that I would be able to come in and make an immediate impact with the information I had been given. I was told there would be an assessment sent over and that I should be sure to give ample attention to it as 40-50% of applicants FAIL the test and do not move forward. I should have recognized the giant Red Flag right then, but I did not. I took the test which was a CCAT (Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test) test, covering logic, math, and verbal ability (50 questions, 15 minutes). Next came at EPP (Employee Personality Profile): Measures traits like patience, sociability, and conscientiousness. Lastly was a typing test. After submitting the assessment, I felt good. I received an email 2 days later notifying me that I did not pass their assessment and I would not be moving forward. I asked for more information about the assessment so I could better understand why I wasn't a good fit so that I could focus on improving in those areas and was told they don't "share the survey results to maintain the integrity of our assessments and evaluation criteria over time". As you can imagine, this was disappointing. How can one improve or know where they are failing if feedback is locked away behind a closed door? Overall, the company may be a good company to work for, but because I only had 1 surface level conversation with their HR person and then was eliminated based on an assessment that I have no insight into tells me that there is an inability to discern who to hire or not to hire by their own leadership. Again, I could be wrong, but because there was no feedback and I was never given an opportunity to touch on how I would approach the role, I can't say. I can only assume (much like an assessment does) that they are not a good company to work for.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand that assessment-based hiring processes can feel frustrating, especially when a candidate is not selected to move forward based on the results. Our assessments are an important part of a broader evaluation process and have been used consistently at RentVision for several years. Over time, we have found them to be a strong predictor of long-term success within specific roles and within our organization as a whole. While we understand and respect that not every candidate will agree with our approach, we remain committed to using a structured and consistent hiring process for all applicants. To protect the integrity and effectiveness of our assessments, we are unable to provide individualized testing feedback or share detailed results. We truly appreciate the time and effort you invested throughout the process and wish you nothing but success in your career moving forward.
