I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Robinhood in Feb 2022
Interview
My experience was with a recruiter reaching out to me via email, asking if I'd be interested in joining their team. We scheduled a phone call to discuss the position and next interview steps. The recruiter was not prepared for the call, at least not tailored to me specifically. Halfway through the call he said he's looking for senior designers with minimum 6 years experience (something I don't have and never claimed to have) and seemed disappointed when I said I had 2 years experience, even though that's clear on my website and LinkedIn, places he must've reviewed in order to contact me. Clearly it was a waste of my time and his. This is just one major incident in a phone call filled with red flags, especially as a woman in tech.
At the end of the call, probably out of politeness, he asked for me to email him my portfolio. I obliged. He never personally responded to my email, not with a "received" or "thanks". Three business days later I got an automated email from a different email address saying I was no longer being considered.

Question 1
What are you looking for in the next step of your career?
Systematically rejected the morning after applying. Recruiters seem to be shopping applicant experiences to confirm biases and don't look kindly to small ventures or experiences outside of the big tech circles.

The recruiters at Robinhood are top notch--really friendly and encouraging.
The same, unfortunately, wasn't true for the people you meet. They weren't unkind, but it did feel a little...stiff. For an opportunity that was UX driven, it was not conversational at all. One of calls ended 5 minutes early and the person didn't even ask if I had questions. There was plenty of time to answer them.
They're definitely a young company. I got the feeling that the people who worked there were just passing through .
That said, the whole process was pretty seamless and organized well. They're hiring team really has it together and was transparent and friendly the entire way.
