      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Rocket (Detroit, MI) in Jul 2019

      Interview

I was very excited when I received a call from quicken loans offering to take me through the interview process. She told me about the benefits I could receive if hired and the pay I would receive if hired. Seeing as I’m barely making ends meet with 2 jobs the offer was a huge relief. We had an initial interview on the phone that I got off of feeling confident. Then she sent me a virtual Assessment through my email. It basically went down hill from there. It was a multi part interactive process that took you through 2 personality tests and a simulation of “the day to day job”. The simulation is poorly planned. There’s no real goal clarified. They tell you there will be 3 different fake conversations between bankers and clients. You are told to correct any information on the clients file that is incorrect and also input any new information provided. Easy enough. Also, keep an eye out for incoming messages from you team leader and incoming calls from other clients, both need to be acknowledged. Easy enough. You can listen to the recording as many times as needed to make sure the information is correct. Ok, so I’m feeling pretty confident. First off, it was obviously a scripted conversation because the people talked so darn fast it was not realistic. It was more realistic to the idea that the banker already had all the information and she was just checking it off as she went. Second, like I said, 3 different fake conversations, each one asked questions in a different order. If someone had worked there long enough to be comfortable doing the job they would most likely ask questions in almost the same order every time; we are creatures of habit. A majority of my panic on the first conversation was not knowing which piece of information the banker was going to ask first so I could be ready. The majority of my panic on the second conversation was thinking I knew where he was going to start and then him starting in a completely different area of the form. I didn’t feel like it was realistic at all. They repeatedly tell you no training required but they set up the interview process as what should be a game for people who have worked there a long time to play to see who’s better. I have never failed a personality test before (I know there’s a first time for everything but..) and I thought I did well on the simulation, but I was contacted and told I failed the test and could retest in 6months if I was still interested. All of that was disappointing but what really topped it off was when I was talking to the person that referred me to the recruiter, because the recruiter didn’t tell me what part I didn’t do well on and we were brainstorming, they told me that lately they had turned down a lot of people because of the new virtual Assessment that wasn’t a thing when they were hired in. I joked that a bunch of people who work there should take the test and be like “see it’s not passable”, apparently people have done that. I don’t know what the actual pass:fail ration is but it doesn’t sound like its very good and from the sounds of it people who already work there and have worked there for a while aren’t passing it either. There is no way around it, my friend tried to find a way because he knows I might be losing my house soon and he was trying to help me out but apparently if you fail the test that even current employees have a hard time passing your stuck for 6 months and then you try again. I know that no job is ever a guarantee but if this test really is extremely difficult to pass it needs to be stated. I was told I had to do well on it to move forward, and that’s true, but I was not told that a lot of people hadn’t passed. I guess it’s not important information but at the same time maybe I would have taken it more seriously. In reality I wouldn’t take it as hard when I didn’t pass because I really did try and I thought I did well. I’m not sure how I could improve to be able to take it again in 6 months. I feel like it was a big waste of time and if I try again it just going to be another waste of time but I really can’t afford it financially to not try again. Wish me luck!

3 rounds. First HR eventually a VP. All over the phone or video. Looking for outgoing sales people. They won’t say anything negative about the company. It seems very fake.

      Interview

Super easy! They will hire anyone with a pulse. You will talk to the recruiter first, and then a series of 2-3 more people. When I interviewed they didn’t even send me to the regional, they just hired me.
