I was connected through LinkedIn by a team lead asking whether I am interested in this role. I checked carefully for the JD and found that they are hiring someone at the senior level. So I replied thank you and expressed that I don't fit. However, the team lead still suggested me to apply because they think my profile matches the role and they accept people at different levels. I applied and got a 90 min HackerRank interview and the language requirement is in Java. I didn't even start the test and replied to HR that I prefer to work using Python so I don't fit, again. They added Python for me after that, which makes me feels like they really think my experience suit the role. I finished this 90min interview carefully (leetcode medium level) and passed. They arranged another 90min tech interview for me. I was really busy at the time with my upcoming exams and projects in my current company so it is very hard for me to take time to attend the interview, which I believe other people do too. I still attend the interview, but I was still be asked some Java questions and I know that with this job I still need to use Java. After the interview, I was asked to provide my transcript. My grade is not very good as I experienced some personal terrible things and I got mostly H1s in my last few semesters. But they don't care the improvement, don't care about people's ambitions, and don't care people's time. I was so shocked that I waste the time. If you want people to write in Java with a senior-level experience and with a super high grade, you should mention it earlier, especially when people are at the stage questioning whether they are fitting in this role. Otherwise, it's a waste of time on both sides.
