      Product Designer Interview

      11 Dec 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Seattle, WA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Rover.com (Seattle, WA) in Oct 2018

      Interview

I had a phone screen with the director of my team followed by three in-person interviews. The first interview was optional onsite but I prefer meeting people face to face. The first interview was one hour, followed by a 5 hour loop with lunch provided, and the final interview was coffee for additional hour with a designer who would be my onboarding partner. The first interview was built with several "tell me about a time" questions. The panel was a combination of skills, past project work, and personality questions. The final interview was conversational. The process was very smooth and the offer was presented within a week of the final interview. It was one of the best interview loops for culture-fit I have ever had.

      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Rover.com

      Interview

The first screening was way too intense and felt like an interrogation. I've been used to normal screenings where the interviewer makes you feel comfortable and asks you general questions. In my call, the interviewer was very cold and abrupt, she jumped straight into scenario based questions which caught me so off guard. I got through that round, and in the 2nd interview with the hiring manager, he said he has been in non-stop meeting for the entire day and visibly looked tired and not engaged. Again, the interview style felt more like an interrogation but I feel like I answered all the questions well. Never heard back, but probably for the best, interview process was intense and a bit too scripted than it needed to be.

      Question 1

The initial screener questions were like "tell me about a time you use data and how did that reflect on the action you took? both quantitative and qualitative"

      17 Jun 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Barcelona
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rover.com (Barcelona) in Apr 2022

      Interview

The interview process consisted of a phone screen, portfolio/case study review, live whiteboard exercise, exercise dive-in, and conversation with PM. All of the interviews happened in a period of 15 days. Feedback was given at all times and without long delays. The only tricky thing was the two hours live whiteboard exercise (1 hours) with a dive-in (1 hour). The most interesting white boarding exercise I did, but later in the day to accommodate Seattle based team members — still, pretty interesting and challenging.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What was my role in the project I showcased? How did I collaborate with Engineering? How was I involved in the definition of a problem statement?
