      Content Manager/Writer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at STEMconnector (Los Angeles, CA) in Sept 2022

      Interview

STEMConnector means well and seems to have good intentions. However, they lack professionalism and appropriate processes necessary to hire qualified candidates. • CEO Lacked Direction: CEO was nice enough, but the position lacked depth. There was some sort of marketing pamphlet that they needed to be written 4 times a year. When I tried to ask what else was there to do and write, the details were vague. • Extensive Portfolio Overlooked: They asked me for writing samples, but I had an extensive online writing portfolio which included examples of website copy, professionally written researched educational blogs, social copy, personal blog examples, etc. They asked me to send it even though it was already listed on my resume and cover letter. • Unprofessional Hiring Practices & Procedures: The CEO said they would like for me to meet with 2 execs and to send them my portfolio that I already included in my resume. I sent them my portfolio link and content samples - again. At 7:49 am, they asked me to select from a list of dates and times for the 2nd interview. At 7:55 am, I responded with a selected time for the 2nd interview, and thanked them. Then at 9:05 am, they emailed me again to tell me that they changed their mind and that they were not moving forward and that they were going with other candidates. What? • Lack Of Team Communication: This company seems to mean well in terms of its objectives to bring STEM awareness to the forefront, but they lack professionalism in a major way. They also lack the ability to decipher qualified candidates, despite the CEO having a Ph.D. They obviously lack the common sense to have the entire team be on the same page. The CEO should be in charge of their own team members. If the CEO stated they would like to move forward with a 2nd interview with a candidate, then the entire team should adhere to their decision. Instead, other team members changed their minds after they had already scheduled a 2nd interview. Who does that? What an unbelievable unprofessional process. It was a total waste of my time. There seemed to be a huge lack of communication.

      Question 1

Can you give me a writing sample? (I had already had my portfolio link listed on my resume and on my cover letter.)
