One of the most convoluted, intentionally tedious job interview ever. Very unprofessional as they do not respond to you at all; the panel lacks professionalism and you can "feel" in the emails they are not truly interested. I wish they were more sincere instead of wasting my time, which is very valuable to me. I am a very seasoned professional with a wealth of experience, particularly curriculum development, which is the purpose of this newly created role. I literally interviewed with a 33 year old youth pastor who had no other professional experience other than in the church - NO TRAINING EXPERIENCE AT ALL, a 26 year old former PhD student that quit her program with no practical experience either, and a 24 year old teacher who was recommended by someone on the inside. My process started around 12/16 and I received notice on today 2/8 that after 1) a video cover letter, 2) having to complete a NINETY MINUTE presentation, 3) having to go to an interview and present only FIVE minutes of my hard work with a group of unqualified applicants (and they deliberately hide the fact it is a group interview, which was less of an interview and more of an overview of what was already discussed in your first Zoom interview), 4) two assessments that took a considerable amount of time, and 5) create and entire SECOND DAY of a two day workshop, after being overwhelmed and consumed with tons of their already created material that they wanted you to literally use to create another workshop. It makes absolutely no sense, 6) create a slide deck literally of how you want their developer to make your presentation look.
After all that work you were supposed to be compensated, which is in writing and I was told during my interview. They did not present the W9 at the second interview, when normally most company compensate you once the day is over.
They don't value your time nor give you the courtesy of communicating where you are in the process, even if it is an automated response. They were even so rude as not to respond once I submitted the presentation I worked a full week on, even with my job (which I love y the way, I just wanted to spread my wings in a different culture)
It takes nothing to be upfront and sincere if you are not interested in a candidate and not waste their time, only to be told in a rude email "sorry we are going to continue our search for the best candidate". Very unprofessional.
After reading all the bad reviews, I am not surprised. I should have read them prior to applying. It is truly unfortunate for them, but fortunate for me. I am blessed to have found another opportunity regardless.
I think it is important to note, this company does not value diversity, and after looking at their company site, there are NO people of color at all at SI, NONE. And if there were/are, there are only one or two, what a shame and what a pity.
I knew honestly I would not get the job because they lack diversity and it is clear they are not hiring people of color, I am actually surprised they even wasted my time to begin with. Also, I know my age was a factor.
