I had a recruiter screening during which it became clear they were looking for a technical program manager but had downleveled the title and salary. I was overqualified but expressed that I was still interested based on opportunities for advancement. They asked for my availability at the end of the call and scheduled a hiring manager interview for later that day. They followed up with an email asking me about my previous compensation. Following my reply, the hiring manager interview was canceled without any communication or followup. This ghosting was tasteless and unprofessional.
