I attended a video interview, thought it is basic courtesy to turn on the video for all interviews, but the interviewers chose not to do it.
The entire interview felt like an interrogation. To make matters worse, the interviewers were condescending in their remarks and made assumptions about my personal life decisions.
First, they asked me what does Sembcorp does, which I replied the basic answers. This however, was not the answer they were looking for as they wanted all the projects and assignments they are doing, not only the basic ones. Which they very rudely took to saying that I lacked basic knowledge to even understand their company.
Then they made many assumptions, “you have work related experience, but from your education switch (from marine to mechanical engineering) that you took, I feel like you are not a loyal person”.
The whole interview felt like it was a session to demoralise and is plainly insulting to me. Trying to also impose their personal values onto mine for just "applying other jobs".
This is the first time I was berated in an interview for applying several other engineering jobs other than the one I was interviewing for because in their words "I have no idea what I want to do in life".
