I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sign In Solutions (Vancouver, BC) in Jan 2019
Interview
The whole process was composed of 5 steps. It starts with a phone screening with a HR recruiter. Secondly, a in-person meeting with the CTO. Then, a home assignment (in my case, to build a mobile app) followed by a demo/interview with the technical team. And finally a cultural fit breakfast with different members of the company.
What most impressed me in the whole process (since the first email I received asking me to book a phone call until the cultural fit step) is how different they treat you. No "good cop/bad cop" with someone trying to intimidate you in some way or adding unnecessary pressure to see how you will behave. The company implements the culture of "we are cool, if you are too we will want you on the team".
And what is even better is that the same treatment is given to you after you join the company. It doesn't stop in the hiring process. Which is awesome!!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Explain your demo app architecture? How do you debug your code? What were the challenges you encountered and what would you improve if you had more time to work on the demo? What do you like to do when you are not working?
CEO- Thanks for the input. We don't like to play games 'good cop/bad cop' during the interview process. We don't think it's efficient or respectful of applicants and their time. It takes a lot of difficult reflection to put one's self out there to apply for a job so we do our best to get to a joint decision as efficiently and respectfully as possible.
