The interview process didn’t progress past the recruiter, which came as a surprise to me. The interviewer arrived late to the meeting and seemed rushed throughout the conversation. Based on what the interviewer shared, it sounds like the team has unrealistic expectations and is searching for a “unicorn” candidate to fill this role.
The interviewer mentioned that this position had been open for a long time, first in California and now in Minnesota, and that they had already turned down candidates who had experience working on large apps.
The interviewer also asked how many users my largest apps had and seemed particularly focused on my experience with Combine.
In the end, I was caught off guard by not making it past the recruiter stage, given my experience. It seems there is something very specific they are looking for and they are not communicating that very well.
