The interview was 1-on-1 with the supervisor who I'd be working under in the role. We had a great conversation. I landed the internship and keep a close relationship with my former supervisor to this day.

Question 1
How do you stay educated about history and culture?
I applied online. I interviewed at Smithsonian in Feb 2026
Interview
After submitting my application, I was asked to design and create a *15 page* portfolio. This was months ago, and I haven’t heard a peep from them since.
This was a labor and time-intensive task. If HR doesn’t have the capacity or decency to tell applicants *anything* after they submit it, then it shouldn’t be used as an initial screening exercise. It should be a second or third round task for those in serious contention.
Questions were well related to the job. Good interview I would rate it at average difficulty after completing and preparing. Overall it was a good experience and I recommend to others.
