I stood in line outside at a job fair for over 3 hours and then still had to come back later that day for another 2 or 3 hours for an interview. They do something called a "Star" interview screening basically asking if you can fit in as a nice person and if you work safely around others. As a machinist this tells the company nothing about your skilled trades level. They used to do a "Cat test" that consisted of machinist questions but they stopped doing that and won't answer why they did. So they're hiring all of these people that are saying things and then come to find out they know little to nothing about machining. When management was confronted about this in a quarterly business meeting and about this overlooked issue they lied to everyone in the room and everyone overseas listening in on the meeting saying they do screen machinists to gage they're experience but that wasn't the case when I interviewed. Not at all.
