      Management Training Interview

      22 Nov 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Arlington, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Southern Spark (Arlington, TX) in Nov 2014

      Interview

Overall, it was a positive experience. Danielle was very friendly on the phone. She explained and was very honest about the position starting at entry level even though I previously had management experience and a business degree. I understand that everyone has to start somewhere, so I still wanted to meet with the President and get her take on the company. Lexa was very real. It was refreshing! She explained every detail of the position and you can hear the passion in her voice when she talks about it. They are growing a lot, which to me is a positive sign in these times, no matter what the company does! They have scored several huge retail partnerships and the names and products are quite impressive. The schedule is reasonable for retail hours, although Lexa was upfront about it being a time commitment in the beginning. The compensation is fair, especially for being entry level starting out. I know many other marketing firms do not offer a base pay, here they do. (I read the review below and would have to disagree with that opinion. They would not be growing if no one was making money besides the managers.) I met four employees throughout my interview process and they all seemed very excited to be there. Yes, the second round interview is at one of the stores. I appreciated being able to see what entry level was all about and how the training worked. It's definitely a smart way to market products. They are not stalking people around the store, but just a casual chat with the customers about the products. It was smart and well trained. Ultimately, Lexa and I decided I would not be the best fit. Though, I do think it was a great company and I loved the culture. I was just looking for a graphics position and they already have a Rep team to take care of it. I did have an acquaintance apply and they are accepting a position here soon.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Questions were mostly related to personality, teamwork, training, management skills/qualities. A couple were pretty simple, but Lexa asked a couple that kept me on my toes!
