I was found by recruiter via LinkedIn. I had an initial phone call to discuss the position and a Linux phone screen. After this I was called in for an on-site. During this stage of the interview I was asked a programming question that I had trouble solving. Instead of perhaps asking me a different question or giving me some time to code it by myself, they blankly started at me for an agonizing hour. I wanted to leave so badly, it was an incredibly uncomfortable experience. I then interviewed with basically the entire team. They asked me some more Linux questions, questions about my background, and my ideas on how to solve certain problems they needed solved. During the interview it came up that I seem "pretty junior." I never lied on my resume and said I was looking for a role I could grow into. Why bother calling me in if you’re looking for a senior engineer not a junior engineer. Anyways I walked out knowing I wouldn’t get the job and I did find out from the recruiter that I didn’t. In the end I’m not mad about not getting this job as some of the interviewers seemed like snobby Silicon Valley “whiz kids.” No thank you. It was, however, a huge waste of my time.
