I applied online. I interviewed at TL Communications
Interview
Received an email from their VP of Social Commerce asking to come in for an interview day of. I pushed back and said I could take a remote call.
The call was scheduled to be 15 minutes, and they only asked me one question - if I could complete an assignment which entailed creating a weeks worth of social content for Instagram, stories and TikTok.
The founder was on the call (kept her camera off and was only on her iPhone) and the only thing that she contributed was to ask to make sure that in the work assignment, I write captions that has a very youthful tone.
Then they followed up via email and asked if I could confirm that I would do the full assignment within less than 2 business days.
Beginning to be skeptical that this was just a play to get free work, I asked a few polite questions about the assignment and never heard back.
Safe to say this is a horrible company that employees people with horrible values and allows to manipulate job seeker for free work. I honestly feel bad for the people they reach out to that could be living paycheck to paycheck and really need the job. Honestly, it was just sad to see that humans that are OK with that level of exploitation still exist.
Writing this so that interviewers can understand the risk of this company an employees could practice a bit of self reflection.
