It was informal and fairly easy. I got the sense that they were not interested in me almost immediately. It was a panel interview -- 3 white males in a male-dominated industry. The HR generalist explained that they were interested in my qualifications since my experience fit the position. However, shortly into the interview a member of the panel asked me to discuss my experience in an area that was not noted in the position description. I addressed his question in detail and as I directed my answer to the other 2 on the panel, I was shocked to see one of the panel members reading (texting?) on his phone and paying no attention during the interview. The director was on his phone throughout the 40 minute discussion. In general, I found the panel members to be rude, aloof, and inexperienced at conducting an interview. This is certainly not what I would expect from a university -- especially Ohio State. Needless to say, I saw no point in writing a "thank you" email to anyone on the panel and I withdrew my interest immediately -- in the position and Ohio State University.
