I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at The Wing
Interview
After applying on indeed for a company that wasn’t listed, I heard back from a recruiter 30 days later. I had 3 phone screenings with contracted recruiters, which were great! Then I finally was invited to have zoom interviews with various directors/the COO from the actual company. All were scheduled on the same day for 4-5 hours total, each one was separate. The questions seemed to have ZERO relevance to the the role. I felt like I was on trial, and that I was being interviewed for a director role. There was very little conversation or room to get to know me. Almost every interviewer was late to the call, one being 15 minutes late. Afterwords I definitely felt negative about the company, and about my experience that day.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
All of the questions were situational questions “tell me about a time when…”
I applied online. I interviewed at The Wing (New York, NY) in Mar 2021
Interview
First round was really pleasant. Second round was lead by a consultant who was the most offputting uncomfortable person. I felt like I was on trial and she was trying to catch me tripping up. No eye contact the whole time because she was typing notes. Um ok. It’s bad enough this is on zoom. It set the tone for the rest of my interviews which put me in the worst mental place. Really unfortunate process considering this is a hospitality role and you’re not giving us a chance to share our personality or approach with people. Lots of “team me about a time when” questions, and not one “how would you handle a situation with a guest” type of question. I felt like I was interviewing for a Fortune 500 on Wall Street. It was way more intense and cold than necessary for this role.

Question 1
They dug deep so it wasn’t just “tell me about a time when” it was wanting to know every possible detail about that story. Sometimes repeating questions in a different way. This is why I felt like I was on trial. I know what they were trying to do. Trip up the person interviewing to see if our story makes sense and is consistent. Ok I get it but is this really necessary? I felt like I really didn’t get a chance to let me personality peek through at all. I was so put off by the approach.
