      SAT Prep Tutor Interview

      27 Dec 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Tier One Tutors in Dec 2010

      Interview

I initially saw the posting for Tier One Tutors on Craigslist. I filled out the form, sent a resume, etc. I got a phone interview (which was very basic), and seemed like the person didn't have much experience. I went to the "interview" which was little more than an info session. The owner, Steve, kept talking about his processes and why he was running his business the way he was. In the end, I got no phone calls back, no email, no nothing. When I inquired (repeatedly) about what was happening to the process, they replied by saying I was "over-qualified" (whatever that really means). On the positive note, Steve seems like a good, family-oriented guy willing to run an honest business. On the other hand, I seemed to have been met with lots of unintentional rudeness (i.e. not having received phone calls and messages back, etc.). If I truly am "over-qualified", Tier One lost out on a darn good tutor at a good price. If they were trying to say something else, I have no idea and am still a little taken by the treatment of the company.
