I applied through a referral, and quickly spoke to a recruiter for the usual screen. I connected with the hiring manager on the phone, was asked your typical questions about experience. I was then asked to put together a response to a case study that was very organized and contained a high-level overview of information that I could use when putting the case together. I didn't appreciate this part, because this was work that was not compensated and it was on a project that had not launched yet, so they could easily use my ideas without hiring me. Very unfair to the candidate, but I completed it because I liked the job. I then went through back to back interviews about my experience, with typical behavioral questions similar to how Amazon conducts their interviews. This lasted the entire day. Very lengthy.
After I completed the final round, the recruiter took a week to get in touch, then went MIA after several return emails and phone calls. When we finally chatted, they said that I was a good fit for the company, but not for that role. They connected me to another hiring manager, who was very nice but was transparent with me that they had no idea why we were chatting since he did not have any jobs available. When I reached out to clarify what happened via phone and email, I was ghosted. Extremely unprofessional.
