I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Dublin, Dublin) in Jan 2021
Interview
Very poor. No information about the position or process, and the interviewer was rude and dismissive. Expected better at this level to be honest!
They asked a few in-depth questions about where I was currently working, but seemed more interested in what the product did then my actual role or contribution. When I brought up relevant pieces of experience to the role, they were hand-waved away/dismissed. The questioning went on for about 20/30 mins.
Afterwards I enquired more about the position, I was told that they don't hire for specific positions - that they hire talent and then assign them where they feel was best. The positions posted online where just a formality.
I was then told that because I've worked in a startup that I'd struggle in an Enterprise environment. When I mentioned I had previous long-term experience in Enterprise, I was told it somehow doesn't count?
I commented about it being a remote position but was told that "I must have seen that somewhere else". When I mentioned I had explicitly applied as it was a remote role, I was told that's a mistake.
They got a little upset when I explained I'm in a different country to the position. I commented that this was explicitly mentioned at the top of my LinkedIn Profile (where I applied) several time, and also at the top of my Resume. The interviewer then proudly told me that they don't read CVs.
We ended the call soon after.
