The phone interview itself was very standard, with a recap of skills and work history, an overview of the role and the benefits, and then some common interview questions, such as where do you see yourself in 5 years, tell us about yourself, how is your experience relevant to the position, what languages do you work with, etc. I was immediately informed that the interview went well, and after that, FOUR translation and editing tests were arranged over the course of two months, and not even for the language pair that was discussed in the interview, no explanation provided. After the tests were done and two days after being congratulated and asked to schedule an interview to make things final, the recruiting manager backtracked, again, no explanation or feedback provided.
My main complaint is that a 3-month selection process with four skill tests that for some reason are not even tailored to the skill they are supposed to measure (in my case a particular language pair) for a barely paid 3-month internship seems quite unreasonable. Compared to that, the selection process for the UN translation internship (which I got selected for) was a breeze.
