      General Manager Interview

      3 Sept 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Indianapolis, IN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at TruGreen (Indianapolis, IN) in Mar 2014

      Interview

I applied directly through the TruGreen Careers website. I received an email instructing me to take an online assessment test shortly after I applied. Approximately two weeks later, I received a phone call from the local HR person asking me to come in for an interview with the GM, HRM, and Regional HR Mgr. The interview was relaxed and informal with very few difficult questions. Shortly after the panel interview, I was flown down to the TruGreen testing facility in Memphis. The facility appears to be a regular office on the exterior without any company markings on it whatsoever. There are multiple rooms inside with one-way, mirror-like, pictures so the staff can view your every move. The assessment lasts a full eight hours and is designed to show all of your strengths and weaknesses. I tested alongside current GM's and others applying for GM positions. I heard very discouraging information about the company from the current GM's during our breaks. Most of them seemed to be disgruntled and overworked. They spoke of high turnover rates and poor customer service in general. Regardless of how well you do or don't do in the assessment, don't expect to hear from them. I would expect a company to at least send a prefabricated email to its applicants if they decide to go with another candidate. Especially when they spend almost $1,000 in travel expenses for the assessment. I don't believe it would've been a good fit for me.

      General Manager Interview

      18 Oct 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TruGreen

      Interview

I was told the interviews would be lengthy but this is just simply a waste of time and money. 2 screens and up to 4 interviews? Also assessments before screen and after as well. Waste of time for both the company and future employee. Your corp personell dont have anything better to do than ask the same questions 4x?

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at TruGreen (Allentown, PA) in Apr 2014

      Interview

Multiple interviews. Many assessments, both online and in-person. Very thorough. Behaviorbased questions. Have specific answers with facts. Do not speak in generalities. Started with phone screen. Then online assessment. Meet with current GM and take another assessment online at the branch. Pass those: interview with region HR. Interview with Region VP. Assessment in Memphis. Interview with Division VP.

      General Manager Interview

      21 May 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Lees Summit, MO
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at TruGreen (Lees Summit, MO) in Mar 2014

      Interview

Started with a phone interview followed by an online personality and cognitive reasoning/math skills assessments. The initial in-person interview was with the Sales Manager and was designed to be more informative than a typical screening process. The second interview was with the General Manager and focused on my skills and experience. It was a very comfortable, low pressure interview and the GM shared several stories of what led him to his current position…and allowed me ample time to describe my work history.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Both interviews were free-flowing without the stereotypical questions designed to “stump” me or cause an uncomfortable situation designed to “see how I react”. Questions during both interviews were more of the: “so tell me about yourself….” questions which allowed me to paint a picture of my strengths and accomplishments as I saw fit.
