      Research Associate Interview

      11 Oct 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer

      Application

I interviewed at UC San Diego

      Interview

Much of the interview process revolves around your past work. If you have a strong academic record, the interview pretty much falls into place. The PI will likely ask questions about why you want to work at the lab, what skills you could bring to the lab (this may be quite specific), and others.

      Question 1

      None, really.

      13 Apr 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Diego, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at UC San Diego (San Diego, CA) in Jan 2019

      Interview

Interview was great and easy. We just talked about my research experience and the work being done in the lab I was applying for. Nice conversation and super nice people! They made me an offer and wanted me to start working before I had an official offer, red flag immediately. Didn’t hear back from them for over a month, called UCSD HR multiple times about my offer, they still wanted me to wait a few weeks but wanted me to start working before I had an official offer. I had already interviewed and started another job a couple of weeks before and they were mad I didn’t say anything when they went weeks before contacting me. Very slow process, much lower pay than biotech.
