The first step was a Zoom interview with a panel of 3, the second stage was a presentation on a topic related to the position and the last step was an in person interview that was more of a culture fit assessment with the group. Where I share more information about my background.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at UC Santa Barbara in Sept 2013
Interview
The interview process was lengthy and time consuming. After submitting my application, I had a phone interview, in person interviews which included me giving a lecture, and multiple conversations. I was surprised that this process took several months. The department was experiencing transition and budget problems, which made them appear disorganized.
Everyone was very friendly and clearly cared deeply about their areas and students. I enjoyed getting to know the department, and had a pleasant experience learning about the programs and courses, as well as meeting the faculty and staff.
