Union Square Media interview questions

The interview was very laid back and not intimidating. They really want to get to know you - not just your resume. I spoke with the director of culture and we clicked, heard back a few minutes later that I got the job.

If you value your time DON'T apply to work for this company. The interview process with the lead engineers is fine but their HR department is incompetent and unprofessional. The first phase of the interview process is a 15 min video interview explaining the position. The second phase is a 30 min behavioral interview, where they ask how you handle certain situations, how do you communicate with others etc, third phase is literally the same as the second phase except its with HR. Last phase is a technical interview where a lead engineer just asks you questions about Javascript and then they show you sample code with a bunch of mistakes and you identify the mistakes and explain how you would fix them. The time wasting and lack of professionalism started once the offer was given. HR called 1 time and left 1 voicemail to discuss an offer without giving any heads up or sending an email first, told a lead engineer I was difficult to get ahold of and then disappeared for a week and didn't respond to any emails or answer their phone. Finally I emailed them back accepted their offer and then they disappeared again for another few days and then took back their offer after I already accepted it and was asked for extra personal information and a preferred start date. They then told me the role no longer existed even though I had interviewed with the company for a month and less than a week prior I was picking my start date. They wasted 2 months of my time and I have nothing to show for it. STAY AWAY from this company.
