I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at University of Hull (Hull, England) in Nov 2022
Interview
I applied online and had an in-person interview at the university in November 2022. Overall the interview process was very good. I was interviewed by a panel of 3 people, the interview lasted 30 minutes and was followed by a 30 minute IT test. One of the people on the panel came and met me in reception and walked me to the room. All 3 people on the panel were lovely and very welcoming and friendly. The questions weren't too difficult and the interviewers were happy to repeat the questions or expand on them if I needed. I then had the IT test. For this I was taken to another room and met by another woman who gave me the instructions for the test and left me on my own to complete it. She came back in around halfway through to see how I was doing and to inform me of how much longer I had left. The IT test was okay, it involved an Excel spreadsheet and I had to use the data in it to answer 5 questions. Then I had to organise a folder into a logical way, they told me there was no 'right' way to do this and to organise it in the way that I normally would. I was told I would hear back from the interview the following lunch time. The next day I waited the whole day for a call to tell me the results of my interview but it never came. I thought I had misheard and it was instead the next day I would be told. I still hadn't received a call by the weekend so I emailed in the hopes that they would get back to me. The following week, I still hadn't heard so I rang up. I was told that they hadn't decided on which candidate they were hiring and I would find out by email within the next 2 days. 1 hour after I called I received an email saying I was unsuccessful. I was very disappointed mostly due to the fact it seemed very obvious they had forgotten to inform me of the result of my interview the week before as I got the email very close to having called them. I also didn't receive any feedback on my interview in the email and had no way of getting any as I was emailed from a 'do not reply' address. I feel that if you go for an interview you should be given feedback on how you did. I spent a lot of time preparing for this job interview and to be treated like this after it it very disappointing and annoying. I was expecting more from them as they were very kind and friendly and for me, this has ruined that and put off applying for jobs with the university in the future. I really feel as if they could have done a lot better post-interview.

Interview
The interview process involved a short one-to-one conversation where I was asked about my background, motivations for applying, relevant skills and experiences, and how I would handle different situations. There was also an opportunity to ask questions about the role and organisation. The interview was professional but friendly and focused on assessing my suitability for the position.
