I had a great interview experience with the technical team! I applied online and went through the entire process up to the verbal offer stage. Each round is described in detail.
First round - Panel interview with three members of the technical team (including the hiring manager) and a non-technical program manager who mostly observed from the sidelines. This round involved a technical deep-dive into my resume along with a few behavioral questions. One hour long with lots of great, insightful questions from the technical team.
Second (i.e. final) round - Three-part interview process involving a 30-minute presentation with 30-minute Q&A, a 30-minute follow-up discussion with the technical team from the first interview, and a 30-minute non-technical discussion with the hiring manager and his boss (a non-technical company VP). For the first part, several members of Verus's technical team were invited to watch, ask questions, and comment on a presentation I made about a technical topic relevant to the role (I chose to present a relevant paper I wrote during my graduate studies). The second part of this interview was mostly a more casual follow-up discussion about the presentation from the first part and short questions to gauge engineering experience. The third part of this interview was more casual and mostly involved the hiring manager and VP getting to know me as a person and a presenter.
I had a great interview experience and received a verbal offer two weeks later. However, I declined due to misalignment with my graduation timeline and other pending offers. I would consider joining Verus Research in the future and hope they would be happy to have me down the line as well.
