I was scheduled for an interview, prepared accordingly, and was ready to go. Less than 5 minutes before the scheduled interview that was to occur, the interviewer canceled saying there was a "fire drill" and asked if we could reschedule. I said 'of course,' and even later followed up but they never rescheduled my interview, and they also never could just come out and say directly that I wasn't in the running anymore either. They ghosted me instead.
It is so wrong to do this to people interested in your company who take the time to apply and then prepare for an interview.
Thankfully, I found a much better job a few weeks later. But I know how hard it is on the job market and I'd hate for people to waste their time applying to a company that does this to people.
Be professional and tell your candidates the truth, it is not difficult.
