I applied online. I interviewed at Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) in Jun 2012
Interview
The interview was a full-day event, with individual meetings with the Associate Director and the Director, as well as two group interviews with event production staff and other event planners. Questions were pretty standard, ranging from my previous event planning experience to giving solutions to potential issues and customer complaints.

Question 1
You've been planning an event XYZ for a few months, when a week before the date of it, the customer wants to change multiple elements of it. However, you know it will simply not be possible for logistical reasons. How do you communicate this to the customer, who will definitely be upset about this fact.

Interview
I was chosen to interview out of a pool of 100+ along with 3 other applicants. There were 4 interviewers that asked me a variety of questions about my experience and skill set, including a question about a software program I had never used. This software was not mentioned in the job description, but I sensed that it put me at a disadvantage. They asked me to describe a time when I came through in a pinch, and I blanked even though I actually have plenty of examples
