Interview
After applying for a Sr Scrum Master Role, the HR recruiter called me describing how excited they were about my resume and he 3 roles for which they were considering me. The recruiter said he would follow up that day with some times to choose from for me to interview with all 3 hiring managers and would send their benefits package right away. A couple of days passed and I didn't hear from him, so I followed up. Eventually (a few days after that) he texted asking if I was available the next day at a certain time (no options, no benefits package sent). Of course I said yes.
The recruiter called 30 minutes before the interview to confirm and let me know they'd probably know if I was moving to the next step by the end of the week. Two of the three hiring managers interviewed me. They were pleasant, laid back and asked a lot of "give me an example when..." questions - standard stuff. I followed up with an email to each of them as well as the recruiter thanking them for taking the time.
That week passed, so the following week I messaged the recruiter asking if there was any feedback or other word on the roles. No response. I emailed him weekly asking expressing my continued interest, but didn't get a response. After 4 weeks, I messaged him one last time and he actually called me shortly after saying that I was moving to a final interview for one of the positions and he would send me some calendar options. I asked again for the benefits package, and he finally sent it right away. After that, I never heard from him again.
Of course I followed up a few more times, but I was completed ghosted. It was highly disappointing as this was the company I was most excited to work for, after submitting 150+ resumes throughout my job search. I am still unemployed to this day (3 months later), and this experience was the worst. It's really important to follow-up with job candidates, even if the news isn't good. And to tell someone they are up for a final interview, then never following through is quite cruel. Because that door was never closed, I still have in the back of my mind that I might get a call from them one day. But of course it gives me pause if this is how they treat humans looking to support their families.
