The interview process started with an initial call from HR. They asked about my background, my resume, and the parts of my experience that are closely related to the role. They also asked why I was interested in joining WHOOP.
The next step was a conversation with the hiring manager. This was a deeper review of my resume. I was fortunate because my past experience aligned very well with their product, and I received an on site invitation shortly after.
The on site portion had three rounds. The first round was with a senior embedded engineer. There were no coding questions. Everything focused on high level system design and scenario based questions. For example, they asked how a wearable should handle data if a user goes on vacation for seven days with no network access, including how to manage storage and how to sync timestamps once the device reconnects.
The second round was with an electrical engineer and centered on communication protocols.
The final round was with a manager and focused on behavioral questions.
I unfortunately did not pass this stage because my experience at the time was not strong enough and I was unable to give complete answers to some of the technical questions.
