Had a mixed experience with my Android developer interview process.
The first round focused on Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Android-related questions, which went fairly well. However, the second round was a nightmare. The interviewer mentioned that another person would join but proceeded alone. He started with my resume and asked very generic questions about Jetpack Compose. When I requested more specific questions, he seemed dismissive.
While discussing my work experience, he was cynical about my contributions. He later asked about Bluetooth (since I had relevant experience), but when I explained, he barely responded or followed up. His attitude was condescending throughout.
Then came the system design task—he abruptly asked me to design WhatsApp in just 10 minutes. Despite my attempts to clarify requirements, he bombarded me with 4-5 questions at a time, making it impossible to focus. He seemed impatient and unwilling to listen, making the entire discussion frustrating. Overall, a highly unprofessional experience.
Wouldn’t name him, but it was clear he assumed he knew everything while barely allowing a real conversation to happen.
