      Administrative Interview

      28 Dec 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Wellmark (New York, NY)

      Interview

The first part of the interview is done over the phone with one of their "talent acquisition" (fancy term for HR assistant) people. If the person that you're talking to over the phone feels that you might be a good fit, then they invite you to come in for an in-person interview. Be prepared though, while you may have years of relevant experience, have examples of your work to back that up and are the most qualified candidate, unless the current admin assistants that you will interview with feel like you will "fit in" with them, you won't be offered the job. The executive that I had my 1:1 with even warned me that the culture there among the admin assistants was one where there was A LOT of politics, drama and back-biting and he even asked me if that would be a problem and if I would be able to distance myself from that and do my work. Very sad to think that a company like Wellmark would put up with crap like that and would not offer a job to the most qualified candidate, just because some admin assistant who had been there for 20+ years and thinks they rule the roost, doesn't want someone coming into possibly "steal their thunder".
