I went through the "early" Wintellect interview process, which was significantly more informal than what our current applicants experience. After multiple technical interview sessions (several hours each), and a lengthy review of my previous work experience, I was finally made an offer. I happened to already know much of the management and other consultants prior to applying, but the interview process was still quite thorough. They didn't skip anything just out of favor.
My ability to present a technical topic to an audience was also assessed during the interview process - my interviewers attended a public user group presentation that I delivered during that timeframe.
Ever since accepting the job with Wintellect, I've been personally involved with improving the interview process itself. As a result, applicants today will still experience the same level of technical depth if we feel that they are up to it, but the process itself is much more formalized and consistent.
