I had two interviews for a teaching position at Wycombe Abbey Hangzhou and the interview process through to recruitment was very long. The recruitment process took 6 months (Feb '22 - Aug'22) during which time I was subjected to a poor HR/administrative team. I was asked to provide a police certificate to prove my clean criminal background (which I did) even though I didn't need to because I have a greencard but they still contested only to find out later that I was right. When I refused to provide another more recent police certificate, I was threatened to lose the job offer. When preparing for the transition to Wycombe Abbey from my previous employer, I received an email just 2 weeks before I was due to begin at my new post saying that the offer had been withdrawn and my position was 'no longer viable'. I phoned the Wycombe Administration office in Hangzhou for an explanation, but was given none. Instead I was told the five people cc'd on the email were all on holidays. While on the phone I was forcefully asked to reply to the email, which I then refused. I sent a direct message on wechat to the principal who ignored me outright. I never heard anything from them again. Wycombe Abbey's poor decision-making cost me and my family thousands.
