      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Xcel Energy

      Interview

I applied online and did an initial interview with a hiring manager two days later. Had a second interview a few days later with three interviewers following the STAR method. After that, I did not receive any contact from Xcel Energy for three weeks, and the hiring manager never responded to my email asking for an update. Then I received a canned response that I was rejected from the position. I sent another email asking for some insight into why I didn't get the job and got no reply. It's really frustrating to think an interview went well and then get no feedback on why I wasn't accepted.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Xcel Energy (Home, KS) in Sept 2021

      Interview

Applied back in mid September within a few hours of the job being posted. Contacted 3 hours after applying requesting an HR phone screen interview be done within 3 days. I did the phone call and was told final rounds would take place the following week. 10 days pass by and I hear nothing and then get contacted by a different recruiter on a SUNDAY afternoon to schedule the final (second) round interview that ended up being on a Friday. Final round was a panel of 1 hiring manager and 2 co-hiring managers (whatever that means). They seemed frustrated with their jobs and had zero personality. Said they literally had to follow HR’s STAR method boring questions or they’d get in trouble. As this is an entry level program for someone right out of college, questions were focused on college experiences. One co-hiring manager had the nerve to ask why I didn’t add more to my plate while taking a full course load, 2 leadership positions, learning new softwares, and earning certifications. The process was slow, archaic, and a bit unprofessional. Being that this is more of a finance position and I had a financial and analytics background, I thought I had a leg up. Anyways, I heard nothing for 2 weeks and had to chase the second recruiter down twice for an update. The first time they said I was in the running and the second time I asked they said we don’t want you and the ATS sent the rejection email. From start to end this fiasco just ended like last week. The kicker here is that I’ve seen nobody say they got into this program. There was one cohort last year and there were only 1-2 whíté people while the rest were dîvêrsity. If this job actually exists and they’re looking to hire, it would be a disadvantage if the candidate was not dîvèrse, from what I’ve observed. I agree with the other reviewer’s post below on interviewing for this position. Same experience. Poor company, utilities are known for being slow, and it sounds like management is a nightmare and they’d work you to the ground. Pay is super low for finance and analytics.
