I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Yale University (New Haven, CT) in Oct 2010
Interview
It is a regular interview for postdocs. The professor came to meet me at the hotel, we had breakfast together, then we went to the lab to meet the rest. I first give a presentation of my previous research, which didn't go great. Then I talk to everyone in the lab, each for 30 minutes. The last one to talk is the professor. We then went to dinner and the whole thing finishes at 8:00.
The interview was highly engaging and insightful. It featured thought-provoking and important questions that added depth to the discussion, making the experience both meaningful and enjoyable. The questions prompted reflection and encouraged a deeper understanding of key topics, leaving a positive impression and contributing significantly to the overall value.
I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Yale University (New Haven, CT) in Dec 2024
Interview
The interview process is a multi-stage evaluation for hiring, moving candidates from application to job offer by assessing skills, experience, and cultural fit through steps like screening calls, skills tests, and various interviews (phone, video, in-person, panel) with HR, managers, and potential teammates, culminating in a final decision
Friendly, informative, and not a lot of technical questions. Took an online interview, and the experience was great. However, they want more senior candidates. I met with only one person from the office and didn't see the professor or PI.
