I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Zales Jewelers (New York, NY) in Nov 2017
Interview
Applied online. Within a few hours the store manager called and said he was sending me a link in e-mail for the online virtual job tryout. It’s a process where you are given different scenarios and must choose how you’d most likely and least likely respond. Very customer service and teamwork oriented. Another section of the virtual job tryout focused on personal attributes of integrity, ability to work as a team, and customer service. The entire VJT takes about 45 minutes. The store manager called the next day and said I had passed the VJT and invited me for an in-person interview with the assistant manager followed by another in-person interview with the store manager. The interview with the assistant manager was very scripted with a set of questions prepared and followed. Around ten questions all about how previous experience and situations pertained to the position applied for.
Tell me about a time in your current/previous position that you had to deal with a difficult customer and how does it relate to what you would be doing here.
I interviewed at Zales Jewelers (Yonkers, NY) in Oct 2025
Interview
I interviewed with a store manager and then a district manager. Each interview had about five questions, straightforward about experience in retail, why Zales, and what brought me to apply.
Interview was fairly easy you go through 3 managers before getting hired. Average pay with decent commission once you sell enough to make commission. Interview was not long basic questions asked to see how you would act in scenarios while working for them.
Very easy. I went into the store to apply in-store and talked to the manager as I was applying. I had a few short phone calls and that was It. I had to take a phew online
