      UX Designer Interview

      14 Jun 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at flockx

      Interview

The first step was a call with HR and then the manager which were both very easy and low pressure. The communication at this point was great. It was prompt and personal. Looking back these interviews were suspicious. Like they were just trying to push me through to the final step which was the design challenge. The design challenge was on their current product solving a current problem - which I should have rejected as it is a risk as a candidate and a big red flag. After I submitted my work on the design challenge their communication changed. When I finally heard back from them it was a generic oddly formatted email that definitely read like a template, unlike all previous emails, and stated that "they don't provide feedback to candidates at this early stage in the process." This was confusing because I was at the end of the process as they described it to me in my interviews and I had provided design work to them. I replied to the email in a professional manner and did ask for feedback. They had posted the job again the following day and were promoting it. They could have disliked all of the candidates they were currently interviewing for. That is totally possible. However, I left the experience feeling like they were farming for ideas and that they were using the interview process to get free work done. I never did end up receiving feedback.
