Technical Talent & Employability Coach (Remote)Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Talent & Employability Coach to support learners in achieving their academic, technical, and career goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in fields such as Software Development, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AI, IT Support, or related disciplines, along with experience in career coaching, recruitment, mentoring, or employability support.
The successful candidate will provide personalised coaching to help learners build industry-ready CVs, optimise LinkedIn profiles, develop technical portfolios and GitHub repositories, prepare for technical interviews, and create effective job-search strategies that align with current technology industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one and group coaching sessions to students and graduates pursuing technical careers.
- Assess learners' technical skills, career aspirations, and professional goals to create personalised employability action plans.
- Review, optimise, and provide expert feedback on technical CVs, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles.
- Guide learners in building professional portfolios, showcasing technical projects, and maintaining GitHub repositories.
- Conduct mock interviews, including behavioural, competency-based, and technical interview preparation.
- Provide guidance on job-search strategies, networking, personal branding, and professional communication within the technology sector.
- Support learners in identifying suitable technical career pathways, internships, graduate roles, and employment opportunities.
- Help students effectively present their technical projects, achievements, and problem-solving skills to employers.
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate coaching records.
- Collaborate with academic and training teams to ensure employability support aligns with current industry expectations.
- Stay informed about technology recruitment trends, emerging technical skills, and employer hiring requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in career coaching, employability support, recruitment, talent acquisition, student mentoring, or professional development within the technology sector.
- Strong technical background or professional experience in Software Development, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AI, IT, or another related technical field.
- Excellent knowledge of technical CV writing and the ability to tailor CVs for different technology roles.
- Experience optimising LinkedIn profiles and developing personal branding for technical professionals.
- Experience guiding learners in creating technical portfolios and GitHub repositories.
- Experience conducting technical and behavioural mock interviews.
- Good understanding of software development projects, technical competencies, and employer expectations for entry-level and experienced technology professionals.
- Excellent communication, coaching, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and support learners from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple learners simultaneously.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within higher education, coding bootcamps, apprenticeships, workforce development programmes, or professional training providers.
- Previous experience as a Software Engineer, Developer, Data Analyst, Cybersecurity Professional, Cloud Engineer, IT Professional, or Technical Recruiter.
- Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), technical hiring processes, and recruitment best practices.
- Relevant qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Career Guidance, Human Resources, Education, or related disciplines.
