About Bourneside Services

Bourneside Services is a growing building services company based in Shepperton, Surrey. We work across commercial, education, facilities management and specialist environments, delivering electrical, mechanical and building services projects across London and the Home Counties.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to employ a motivated Building Services Design & Estimating Trainee to support our Project Manager and wider management team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong maths, IT and communication skills who wants to develop a career in building services design, estimating, surveying and project support.

Salary

£24,000–£28,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

Higher salary may be considered for an exceptional candidate with relevant CAD, Excel, estimating or engineering experience.

The Role

The successful candidate will support the Project Manager and management team with the technical and commercial preparation of building services projects.

Duties will include:

• Assisting with building services design and technical layouts
• Supporting estimating and cost preparation
• Helping with surveys and site information gathering
• Using AutoCAD and other technical software, with full training provided
• Working with Microsoft Excel to prepare schedules, cost information and project data
• Liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
• Supporting project administration and documentation
• Helping to identify technical, financial and logistical challenges before and during projects
• Attending sites where required as part of the survey and project preparation process

Candidate Requirements

We would consider a school leaver, college leaver or graduate, provided they have the right attitude, ability and interest in engineering and building services.

Applicants should have:

• Strong mathematical ability
• Good IT skills
• Confidence using Microsoft Excel
• A genuine interest in engineering, construction or building services
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• A practical, problem-solving mindset
• The ability to communicate professionally with clients, suppliers and colleagues
• A full UK driving licence

Graduate applicants should ideally have completed an engineering-related course.

Strong Excel skills would be a significant advantage. Experience with AutoCAD or similar technical software would also be beneficial, but full training can be provided.

Training and Development

Although this is not a formal apprenticeship position, Bourneside Services expects training and development to form part of the role.

Formal training will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate and may include courses related to building services design, estimating, CAD, project management or other relevant areas.

This role would suit someone who wants to build a long-term career in building services design, estimating and project delivery.
