Commodore Applied Technologies has SET its sights on cleaning up the environment. The company's SET (solvated electron technology) is a non-thermal process that removes PCBs, pesticides, dioxins, radioactivity, and other contaminants from water and soil. Commodore is working to commercialize SET; in the meantime, the company gets more than 90% of its sales from its Commodore Advanced Sciences unit, which provides waste containment, remediation, and removal management services, mainly for government agencies. Projects undertaken by Commodore Advanced Sciences have included US government radioactive waste sites in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Rocky Flats, Colorado.
