Connect One is all about helping one device connect to another across the Internet. The company designs several types of embedded semiconductors, including modems, adapters, and controllers. These devices enable electronic equipment besides PCs -- gear such as mobile fleet management terminals and industrial process monitoring equipment -- to communicate across Internet protocol (IP) networks. CEO Amir Friedman founded the company in 1995. (Friedman was also a co-founder of msystems, later acquired by SanDisk.) Connect One's customers include big electronics makers such as Oki Data and VeriFone. The company has offices in Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, and the US.
