If you're stuck in traffic, you can't blame Image Sensing Systems (ISS). ISS's Autoscope vehicle detection system converts video images into digitized traffic data for traffic management. Unlike traditional embedded wire loop detectors, which are buried in the pavement, Autoscope enables wide-area detection using video cameras, a microprocessor, software, and a PC. The systems help users to design roads, manage traffic signals, and determine the environmental impact of gridlock. Royalty income from traffic management company Econolite Control Products accounts for nearly half of sales. The company gets three-quarters of its sales in North America.
