Miami Dade College Snapshot
Miami Dade College (MDC) is one of the largest higher education institutions in the US, with eight campuses and more than 160,000 enrolled students. The southern Florida college is state supported and offers more than 150 academic programs leading to associate and bachelor degrees, as well as certificates for technical and vocational training. Its associate programs focus on such occupational areas as aviation, business, and criminal justice, while its bachelor programs focus on education, nursing, and public safety. Established in 1960, the school opened amidst an influx of thousands of Cuban refugees. Today, MDC leads the way among US colleges in awarding degrees to ethnic minorities, Hispanics in particular.
