Scintera Networks is a designer of optical network transmission components. The fabless semiconductor company has its Gigahertz Signal Processing (GSP) devices manufactured with a CMOS process, a common silicon-based method of fabrication; many developers of optical components resort to exotic compound semiconductors, such as silicon germanium, to boost the speed of their parts. The company's products were used to upgrade legacy fiber networking equipment; it divested its wireline networking business in late 2007 to focus on wireless applications. Scintera Networks was established in 2001.
